Architect Steve Nakada of Nakada+Associates said, “I wanted to create contemporary condominium residences as urban infill to Pasadena’s historic Civic Center District and main street. The building design effectively breaks down civic massing with its interlocking volumes of different materials.” And so he did. Soaring glass solariums are set back from walls of warm Anamosa limestone, providing a luminous interplay of color and texture. “We chose Iowa limestone for its distinctive golden and purplish hues and strong veining,” explains Steve. “The color becomes richly saturated in the San Gabriel Valley sunlight.”
